3 DAY ITENERARY
I am in Stellenbosch for three days - what can I do?
First of all orientate yourself and discover Stellenbosch on Foot. The on foot tours leave from the Tourism Office daily at 11h00 and 15h00.
Do not miss a visit to our Museums - the Village Museum is unique as it depicts houses from four different centuries and gives you a clear idea about the South African back ground and history. Also not to be missed is the Toy Museum and the art museums (Stellenbosch University Art Museum and Rupert Museum).
Wine tours are extremely popular. Book a full or half day tour and enjoy the fruit of the wine. Stellenbosch has more than a 150 open cellar doors - you are also welcome to visit the wineries on your own. A hop-on-hop-off bus also departs from Stellenbosch Tourism regularly.
Stellenbosch is situated in the most beautiful natural valley. Numerous walks are available through the vineyards or in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. Some of the wine estates also offer short hikes.
Good food and wine just goes so well with art, and Stellenbosch is heaven for lovers of good food & wine. Apart from the art galleries Stellenbosch also offers an abundance of live entertainment. Check our events calendar for all the different shows at the theatres.
Stellenbosch's friendly township - Kayamandi - is well worth a visit. Book a Cultural Tour and meet the locals in their Spaza Shops and African Restaurants. The tour also includes a visit to crafters and community centres. Book yourself an overnight stay at one of the Homestays. Here you will have the opportunity to live with a local African family, be part of all the house rituals and food preparation.
Stellenbosch is proud to have three of the top ten restaurants in South Africa plus a host of other quality venues. The restaurants vary from fine dining to informal, alfresco and family restaurants. Do not miss out on our world famous cuisine - try a different restaurant for every lunch and dinner.
Stellenbosch is the ideal base to use for exploring the entire region, from Cape Town to Montague. See our 6-day itinerary for suggestions.
